It was a last minute decision (two days before the event) but I decided to go to Brawl on the Wall. It wasn't literally on the Great Wall. It's a black-tie charity event to watch white collar professionals compete in boxing. It was just an excuse to put on a ball gown.
My friend Lynda is always up for an adventure so it wasn't too difficult to convince her to go to a gala event. We got seated with a bunch of random people to complete a table of eight. Lynda is very sociable so we easily made friends with people at our table.
There were 11 fights. Each fight was 3 rounds lasting two minutes. There were two fights for the ladies who started the evening. The competitors paid 2000rmb to enter. They were committed to 3 months of intense training. Most competitors changed their diet, gave up drinking and lost weight.
About the 5th or 6th fight, I got sorta bored of it. I know nothing about fighting but I still enjoyed seeing the sweat come off people's head when they got hit.
I know the event goes to charity but sadly, I can't recall which charity it supports.
